Macroeconomic Management

Established in 1964, the IMF Institute provides macroeconomic management training to officials of the International Monetary Fund’s member countries in areas such as financial programming and policies, monetary and exchange operations, public finance, financial sector issues, and macroeconomic statistics. This volume compiles some of the analysis that the Institute uses in its macroeconomic training to address key questions that policymakers face in managing their national economies.

The Editors

  • Mohsin S. Khan is Director of the IMF Institute. He is the author of numerous publications on macroeconomic and monetary policies in developing countries, economic growth, international trade and finance, and Islamic banking. He serves on the editorial boards of 10 academic journals and is a member of the Advisory Committee of the African Economic Research Consortium in Nairobi, Kenya. Mr. Khan holds a PhD from the London School of Economics.
  • Saleh M. Nsouli is Deputy Director of the IMF Institute. He has published widely on African and Middle Eastern economic and financial issues, as well as on macroeconomic and structural adjustment, international trade theory, and current and capital account convertibility. Mr. Nsouli holds a PhD in economics from Vanderbilt University.
  • Chorng-Huey Wong is Senior Advisor in the IMF Institute. His publications on economic and monetary issues include works on inflation targeting, exchange rate and monetary policies, external imbalances in emerging market economies, trade policy, and structural reforms. Mr. Wong received his PhD in economics from the University of Minnesota.
